Well, I completed my first day of my weight training, and it did not go as well as I had hoped. My trainer showed me an outline of the program he wants me to follow 2 days a week. It involved weight lifting and lunges (for my knees) doing 3 sets of 15 reps. I made it thru the first set, but became light-headed because I didn't eat much breakfast before my arrival.
After some stretching, to recover from the light-headedness, we went thru the workout I would perform on the second day of each week. Again, I only completed one set of each. The trainer believed part of my problem was being new to the training program, and that may be partly true. But 90% of my problem was not eating properly. I will be better prepared when I return on Wednesday.
On my off days of weight training, I should get 30-40 minutes of cardio exercise and eventually work my way up in time. My ideal heartrate should be around 125 bpm while doing my cardio work. We have an eliptical machine at home or I can go back to the fitness center if I want to mix in a few other cardio machines.
The most difficult part of the weight training today were the lunges: forward, backward, diagonal forward and diagonal back. My legs are very fatigued, but I know this will best for me in the long-term. We didn't discuss anything related to my golf game, I just emphasized my first goal to him was to strengthen my legs to help my knees for the future. I really noticed a big difference today only doing part of a full session, so I know I'm going in the right direction.
Back for more on Wednesday!!!
